Amanda Costa Joins the Gutmann Laboratory


Amanda Costa has recently joined the research laboratory of the NF Center Director, David H. Gutmann, MD, PhD, as a postdoctoral research associate. She obtained her PhD with Helmut Kettenmann, PhD, at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine and the Charité University of Medicine, Berlin, Germany, where she investigated the importance of microglia in the setting of stroke.
In the Gutmann laboratory, she will be studying the role of immune cells in optic glioma formation, progression, and vision loss using Nf1 mutant mice. Her work aims to identify new treatment approaches and critical periods for therapeutic intervention.
