Ran Chen, PhD
The Washington University NF Center welcomes Ran Chen, PhD, to the Gutmann Laboratory. Dr. Chen received her PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Iowa in 2015 prior to joining the laboratory of David H. Gutmann, MD, PhD. She is interested in understanding how stem cells in the brain give rise to brain tumors.
She will be spearheading a project to develop stem cell models of low-grade childhood brain tumors (gliomas) as well as to define how non-cancerous cells in these tumors work together with cancer stem cells to maintain glioma growth. These studies are critical to developing new therapies for these common tumors in children.
