Susan E. Maloney, Director of the IDDRC Animal Behavior Subunit, was recently promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. This is a major milestone in the career of a faculty member at Washington University, signifying excellence in research, recognition at a national level, and outstanding administrative and educational contributions to our medical school. Dr. Maloney has been a leader in the behavioral analysis of genetic liability models, including using NF1 models to understand the role of Nf1 mutation in neurodevelopmental disorders, such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD). She is leveraging these experimental models to elucidate predictive disease signatures and etiologic mechanisms of behavioral challenges related to NF1-ASD symptomatology for future therapeutic investigations.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Maloney on this well-deserved accolade.
