Washington University NF Center Receives Clinical Trials Grant

Investigators at the Washington University Neurofibromatosis (NF) Center were funded to participate in the Department of Defense NF Clinical Trials Consortium.

The NF Clinical Trials Consortium is dedicated to conducting clinical trials to improve the quality of life of persons with NF1 and NF2. Since the discovery of the genes responsible for the different forms of NF, much has been learned about how the various problems associated with NF come about. This opens the door towards development and testing of medications that may be helpful in preventing or treating complications of the disorders. The NF Clinical Trials Consortium was formed in 2006 with funding from the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command to carry out clinical trials of such medications. The Consortium consists of thirteen clinical centers around the U.S. and an Operations Center at the University of Alabama Birmingham to coordinate consortium activities.

Together with Robert Hayashi, MD, PhD, Debra Spoljaric, PNP, Lisa Murray, MA, and Anne C. Albers, PNP, David H. Gutmann, MD, PhD are offering new clinical trials for individuals affected with NF1 and NF2.  Interested individuals should contact Lisa Murray at Murray_L@kids.wustl.edu.
